Pollen8 is a non-profit organization that envisions an Appalachia where women are no longer bound by addiction. Our mission is to break the cycle of addition by providing prevention, treatment and reintegration services for women with Substance Use Disorder. We provide an innovative approach to recovery and hope to become leaders in the opportunity of long-term sobriety. Our goal is the reintegration of women in recovery back into society. We do so through economic development, agriculture, education, employment training, and basic life skills.
Café Appalachia is a public, community serving business that allows a healthy and safe environment to train and teach life skills to those it employs. Café Appalachia is a DBA of Pollen8 that provides cooking, barista and hospitality training in a fast-paced setting to the women in our ReIntegr8 program. Pollen8 partners with other local non-profits and for profits to establish local and healthy options served to our community. We feature Garden to Table options that are a healthy twist on comfort foods.
The Manager of Café Appalachia will oversee and operate all aspects as assigned pertaining to the unit of business. Business location will be 206 D Street, South Charleston, WV. Café Appalachia is part of a multi-location training program.
--Job Expectations and Requirements can include but are not limited to:
· Ability to oversee a staff of 15 Café Appalachia employees or more, including onboarding and scheduling
· Knowledge, understanding, and empathy of Substance Use Disorder
· Can run all budgets as assigned including food cost, labor and miscellaneous expenses
· Can effectively communicate verbally and written
· Can implement all policies and procedures pertaining to the program and business and ensure teams full adherence
· Maintains a Kanawha County Management Food Handlers Card
· Maintains compliance within the unit of all Federal, State, and Local Food Code Regulations
· Maintains HIPPA policies and regulations
· Is able and willing to work any hours of operation of the Café Appalachia
· Can multi-task
· Is able to work in a group or individually, with or without direct supervision present
· Has a desire to make a difference and wants to help
· Is willing to comply with any additional training that may be deemed necessary
· Has experience of ordering products and supplies through multiple vendors and providers
· Basic marketing required to increase sales and drive business
· Will adhere to any communication tools set forth by supervisor
· Can think outside of the box
· Enjoys a challenge
· Ensures the entire team complies with same policies set forth
· Excellent customer service skills
· Is comfortable with speaking to the media and in front of large groups
· Has Microsoft Office proficiency
· Is able and willing to have weekly meetings
· Can create a culture of healing and wellness to enable team members to grow and learn to their full potential while growing the business
· Adhere and maintain a drug and alcohol free workplace
· Cooking experience a must
· Minimum of 3-5 years of restaurant management experience
· Other Duties as assigned
