As part of our transportation team, you'll support the delivery of impactful infrastructure projects across Middle Tennessee and throughout the state. You'll apply your roadway and highway design expertise—particularly your experience working with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT)—to solve complex engineering challenges and help develop innovative, sustainable transportation solutions.
Projects you'll support
Highway and roadway improvement projects, including the I-24 Choice Lanes project
Interstate, interchange, and capacity expansion projects
Transit corridor enhancements
Federally funded and locally sponsored infrastructure programs
You'll work alongside experienced engineers and project managers, gaining hands-on experience collaborating with clients, multidisciplinary teams, and stakeholders. What you'll do
Utilize technical expertise to lead and support roadway design efforts for transportation clients in Tennessee
Prepare and assist in developing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for roadway and highway improvement projects
Review roadway, bridge, and transportation design plans for conformance with contractual and state/federal agency requirements
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teammates and subconsultants to ensure cohesive project deliverables
Collaborate with TDOT personnel and local agency representatives throughout project development and delivery
Contribute to QA/QC processes to support high-quality engineering output
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers to support overall team growth
Support business development efforts, including client relationship building and proposal generation
Here's what you'll need
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or equivalent)
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee, or ability to obtain within six months if licensed in another state
Minimum 8+ years of experience in roadway and highway design including
Experience delivering transportation projects for DOT clients
Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D
Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Ideally, you'll also have
15+ years of experience supporting or leading multidiscipline engineering design and construction projects
Familiarity with TDOT standards, TDOT’s Project Delivery Network, AASHTO guidelines, FHWA requirements, and local agency procedures
Knowledge of maintenance of traffic (MOT), utility coordination, and drainage considerations associated with roadway design
Experience mentoring junior engineers and designers

The base salary range for this position is $95,200.00 to $166,700.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
