Established in 1993, Dawson Cole Fine Art specializes in Contemporary and Modern sculpture, drawings, prints, and unique works on paper by American and European masters. The gallery represents one of the largest collections of sculpture by Richard MacDonald and also showcases works by established and emerging traditional and contemporary painters.
Dawson Cole Fine Art is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Administrative & Marketing Assistant to support the day-to-day operations and marketing efforts of our Carmel gallery.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both organization and creative work and takes pride in keeping projects, systems, and details running smoothly behind the scenes.
The right candidate is dependable, calm under pressure, takes initiative, works well independently, and enjoys wearing multiple hats in a small business environment.
Responsibilities
- Administrative support and internal coordination
- CRM and database maintenance (Salesforce experience preferred)
- Inventory reporting and record management
- Website updates and digital content management
- Social media content creation, scheduling, and reporting
- Email marketing support and campaign preparation
- Creation of simple graphics and short-form video content using tools such as Canva, CapCut, or similar platforms
- Digital asset and file organization
- Marketing calendar coordination and project tracking
- Office organization and supply management
- Assisting with gallery projects including artwork placement, lighting adjustments, and exhibition preparation
- Assisting with occasional errands, deliveries, and general gallery operations as needed
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional administrative, marketing, communications, or office experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Experience with Instagram, Facebook, and social media content creation
- Experience with email marketing platforms and CRM systems preferred
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems, Canva, CapCut, Google Ads, or similar marketing tools is beneficial but not required.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software and systems quickly
- Comfortable making decisions, solving problems, and moving projects forward with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working in an active gallery environment that includes occasional lifting, moving artwork, adjusting lighting, and assisting with exhibition installations.

Compensation
$25-$29 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
- Part-time position, approximately 20-30 hours per week
- Primarily weekdays during normal business hours
- Some flexibility in schedule and days worked is available for the right candidate based on gallery needs.
- On-site position in Carmel-by-the-Sea
