This position in the Property Tax Division will be focused on a role that includes client representation in court as well as contract management and business development. The salary is commensurate with experience and includes bonus and business development opportunities. (There is no billing requirement.)
The responsibilities of the position would include:
- Legal research and analysis related to property tax and civil litigation
- Draft and review legal documents
- Assist in preparing for trials and hearings
- Attend client meetings and provide legal advice
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies
- Represent clients in court proceedings and negotiations
- Maintain accurate and organized case file
Additional Opportunities:
- Prepare and present legal and property tax topics for taxpayer workshops, seminars and conferences
- Attend Conferences on behalf of the Firm
Requirements:
- JD from an ABA approved school
- Must be licensed and in good standing in Texas
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Proficient in legal drafting and administrative tasks
- Ability to conduct thorough legal analysis and provide sound advice
- Experience in litigation and courtroom procedures
- Familiarity with legal research platforms such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to engage with clients and local associations beneficial to client interests
- Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skill
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Texas delinquent property tax background preferred but not required
- Spanish-speaking a plus
- High volume courtroom case management experience
- Research experience
- Public speaking experience
- Public facing customer service background
- Event planning
