STUDENT SUCCESS COACH
SPRING 2024
Brewton-Parker College currently seeks a full-time "Student Success Coach" to work collaboratively with professionals in other areas to staff a new Student Enrichment Center (SEC) that will serve as the framework for increased student engagement and success with the goal of whole student development. The SEC is part of a five-year plan called the EPICC initiative ("Enrichment, Persistence, and Innovation in Christian Community") supported by a SIP grant ("Strengthening Institutions Program") awarded by the U. S. Department of Education pursuant to Part A of Title III.
The College: Brewton-Parker College, tracing its origin to 1904, is a four-year, coeducational Christian comprehensive college accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, offering thirty-eight programs of undergraduate and graduate study to a diverse population of about 800 students in the micropolitan setting of Mount Vernon/Vidalia in the South-Central region of Georgia. As a Georgia Baptist institution, Brewton-Parker affirms the supremacy of Christ and expects members of the faculty and administration to model Christian values before the students, in their professional activities, and in their lives.
Student Success Coach: To begin May 1, 2024, or as soon thereafter as possible, the successful incumbent will conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with at-risk students to help them identify academic goals and develop plans to achieve those goals, including study skills, time management techniques, problem-solving, and other strategies to improve academic performance. The success coach also will guide students in identifying and using available resources and support services, including the EAB Navigate data application, to implement successful interventions.
Qualified candidates must have at least a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, or a related field (graduate degree preferred) and also must have at least two years experience in academic coaching, counseling, or other academic support services related to higher education. Experience should include interacting with students from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds, including those from low-income, rural, and/or first-generation families.
