Starbucks Shift Supervisor Job Description
We are looking for a motivated, dependable, and team-oriented Starbucks Shift Supervisor to help lead daily store operations. The Shift Supervisor supports the store manager by leading baristas during scheduled shifts, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining store standards, and helping the team stay organized, productive, and focused.
This position is ideal for someone with leadership experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support baristas during assigned shifts.
- Create a welcoming, positive experience for customers and team members.
- Ensure Starbucks beverage and food quality standards are followed.
- Coach partners in the moment on customer service, beverage quality, cleanliness, speed of service, and operational standards.
- Delegate tasks effectively to keep the store clean, stocked, and running smoothly.
- Support opening, mid-day, and closing routines according to store standards.
- Monitor breaks, task completion, and shift flow to support business needs.
- Handle customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and health department standards are followed.
- Assist with restocking, inventory organization, product rotation, and waste control.
- Support cash handling procedures, register accountability, and daily operational tasks.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Set a positive example by following all company policies, dress code standards, and customer service expectations.
- Communicate clearly with the store manager and leadership team regarding shift updates, staffing concerns, customer issues, and operational needs.
Qualifications
- Previous Starbucks, barista, food service, retail, or customer service experience preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work scheduled shifts.
- Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to coach team members respectfully and professionally.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform tasks such as bending, reaching, lifting, and cleaning.
- Must be willing to learn and uphold Starbucks standards, recipes, routines, and procedures.
- Must maintain a professional appearance and follow dress code expectations.
