Duties
- Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and low-voltage electrical wiring in commercial and industrial settings
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to accurately execute cabling layouts
- Perform fiber splicing and fiber optic systems installation to establish high-speed data connections
- Use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, telecommunication testing equipment, and RF testers to troubleshoot network issues
- Conduct equipment troubleshooting for telecommunications systems including Cisco routers, VoIP phones, Ethernet switches, and computer hardware
- Ensure proper cable management and labeling for organized network wiring installations
- Test telecommunications systems using specialized testing equipment to verify performance and compliance with industry standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code)
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or installer in structured cabling or telecommunications environments
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, and network wiring practices
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, fiber optic systems installation, and optical testing procedures
- Familiarity with telecommunication systems such as VoIP, telephony setups, Cisco routers, and radio frequency (RF) testing
- Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams accurately; familiarity with communication system installation standards
- Proficiency with hand tools, crimpers, cable termination tools, and diagnostic equipment such as ohmmeters and electrical testers
- Knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems and low-voltage electrical wiring standards (NEC compliance preferred)
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients during site visits and installations
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel between job sites; willingness to work in various environments including confined spaces or elevated locations

Pay: $25.67 - $60.91 per hour
