The Drug Research Unit at UCSF is looking for a highly motivated lab manager in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy. The available research position will enable the individual to expand their management skills and learn new approaches in drug development and lab management. The Drug Research Unit (DRU) Laboratory Manager has a key position with the responsibility for the management of a complex research laboratory within the Department of Clinical Pharmacy that is a core facility for both the DAIDS sponsored AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) and the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR). The DRU provides analytical support for multiple UCSF Principal Investigators involved in NIH domestic and international grant supported research. The DRU develops, validates and applies innovative and specialized analytical assays for quantification of malaria drugs, antiretroviral drugs and anti-tubercular drugs or associated therapeutic agents in body fluid specimens and target tissues.
Duties of the Laboratory Manager include planning, management and development of laboratory operations, and overseeing the implementation of new technologies. The Laboratory Manager will also serve as Supervisor for analytical personnel of the DRU and will be responsible for human resource management of laboratory personnel. The Laboratory Manager acts as a liaison between a complex network of investigators, study coordinators and laboratory personnel from multiple sites.
