The Cook is responsible for cooking and producing well balanced, quality meals and providing excellent service to residents.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Interacts with residents and staff in a professional, friendly and compassionate manner at all times.

Follows recipes to prepare quality and nutritional meals for residents.

Plates meals with an attractive presentation.

Maintains a safe, sanitary, clean and organized cooking area.

Assists with stocking inventory of food and non-food supplies.

Assists with cleaning the kitchen.

Preps food in accordance with community and health department standards.

Performs duties of kitchen helper/dishwasher as needed:

Washes dishes, pots and pans, and stores dishes.

Keeps dishwashing area clean and organized.

Puts away delivered food products.

Demonstrates high standards of ethics and personal accountability.

Follows all OSHA, Fire, Health Department and safety requirements.

Other duties as assigned.

Job requires walking and standing for extended periods of time.

Push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications
- 18 years of age; high school diploma or GED.
- Must have the ability to obtain a food handlers certificate as required.
- Ability to read and prepare menus and recipes.
- Working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation.
- Drive, desire, and willingness to learn.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with residents and co-workers in English.
- Ability to use math to calculate recipes.
- Must have skills necessary to prepare dishes for specialized diets.
- Demonstrate good judgement skills.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Ability to work well under stress, complete assignments accurately, and work independently, as well as with co-workers.
- Demonstrate desire to be a team player.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Ability to push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
- Requires interaction with co-workers and residents.
- Likely requires weekend, evening shifts, and holiday shifts.
