QCI is looking for a dependable Construction Yard & Shop Assistant to help maintain our shop and yard and provide day-to-day support to our construction crews.
This position is available full-time or part-time and is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, staying organized and working around construction equipment, trucks, tools and materials.
Construction experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person who is dependable, hardworking and willing to learn.
Responsibilities
- Clean, inspect and put away tools and equipment returned from jobsites
- Keep the shop, tool areas and yard clean and organized
- Organize tools, materials and construction supplies
- Help load and unload trucks and trailers
- Prepare tools and materials for crews before they leave for jobsites
- Assist with receiving and putting away deliveries
- Deliver small tools, equipment and materials to local jobsites using a company vehicle
- Pick up materials and supplies from local vendors
- Help track and locate tools and equipment
- Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment
- Assist mechanics, drivers, foremen and other employees as needed
- Help maintain an orderly and safe yard and shop
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
- Dependable and punctual
- Comfortable performing physical and hands-on work
- Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 lbs.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Organized and willing to take responsibility for keeping the shop and yard in order
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment is helpful but not required
- Construction, warehouse, landscaping, mechanical or equipment experience is a plus
Schedule
Full-time or part-time available
Primarily weekday/daytime hours. We can offer some flexibility for the right part-time candidate.
Compensation
$20–$25/hour, depending on experience
About the Position
This is a support position that plays an important role in keeping our construction crews productive.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in keeping things organized, takes care of tools and equipment, and is willing to help wherever needed. A typical day may include cleaning and organizing tools in the shop, loading material for a crew, picking up supplies, or delivering a tool to a local jobsite.
There is also an opportunity for someone interested in construction to learn more about our equipment, operations and field work over time.
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
