Test Automation Architect
Our Test Automation Architect serves as the technical lead for the automated software verification program supporting modernization of the Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS) thin-client prototype. The incumbent ensures functional equivalency between the legacy PowerBuilder application and the modernized thin-client solution through automated verification, traceability, and repeatable regression testing while providing objective evidence that software increments satisfy functional, integration, cybersecurity, and performance requirements. Salary Range: $95,000 to $110,000 annually, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop automated regression suites using legacy PowerBuilder application behavior as the functional baseline, verifying that the modernized thin-client solution faithfully reproduces operational maintenance workflows while identifying unintended functional changes prior to Government Functional Manager Certification.
- Design, implement, and maintain the enterprise automated testing framework, including reusable test libraries, execution orchestration, reporting dashboards, and test data management to support continuous verification throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Integrate automated functional, API, regression, security, and performance testing into CI/CD pipelines to provide continuous feedback on software quality and release readiness.
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test scripts for web-based and enterprise software applications.
- Prepare Software Test and Evaluation Procedures (STEPs), automated test procedures, traceability matrices, expected results, operational scenarios, and objective quality evidence supporting Government review and release readiness.
- Create reusable automated test frameworks that improve regression testing efficiency and reduce manual testing effort.
- Develop representative production-like test data and data management strategies to support repeatable testing.
- Translate system requirements, user stories, interface specifications, and business rules into automated test scenarios and acceptance criteria.
- Validate RESTful APIs, message exchanges, authentication, authorization, data integrity, and interface transactions using automated testing frameworks.
- Analyze test results, identify software defects, reproduce issues, and document findings using defect tracking systems.
- Perform functional, integration, system, regression, smoke, sanity, and user acceptance test support activities.
- Maintain full traceability between requirements, user stories, automated test cases, and verification results.
- Develop automated interface verification scripts validating data exchanges among OOMA, OIMA, RSupply, and other interfacing maintenance and logistics systems
This is a full time, exempt, salaried position located on-site in Chesapeake, VA. Position is contingent on contract award.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or mathematics (e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems)
- Minimum 5 years designing and implementing automated software testing solutions supporting enterprise software development using modern web technologies (Java/Spring Boot/Angular or equivalent).
- CompTIA Security+ CE certification or an equivalent required.
- Must be a US Citizen due to Federal Contractor requirements.
- Experience with the NTCSS suite (OOMA, OIMA, RSupply, RADM, OMMS), PowerBuilder modernization projects, and browser automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or TestComplete is preferred.
- Experience supporting Navy logistics, aviation maintenance, or enterprise business systems.
- Experience implementing automated testing within DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to implement automated application security testing, dynamic application security testing, dependency scanning, and software composition analysis within DevSecOps environments.
- Experience with source code management tools such as Git.
- Demonstrated ability managing software defects and supporting release readiness by resolving Critical and High severity defects prior to User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- US Government Granted Security Clearance required.
