Auburn First UMC seeks a part-time Accompanist to join our staff team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced musician with the ability to play a variety of styles of music, committed to providing quality music, be a team player, and provide music in a sensitive, appropriate, and timely manner for the worship service.
Primary duties will include provide accompaniment for Pick-Up Choir, Crossroads Band, and other musical practices and performance(s) and by appointment; provide appropriate service music and accompaniments for all worship services including special holiday services and rehearsals as needed, weddings, and memorials; inform office of any required maintenance of pianos; works with the music team to select appropriate music for service; participates in worship planning meetings.
Qualifications for this Position include B.A. degree in music or equivalent experience; minimum of three years’ experience in the music industry; ability to play a variety of styles of music and is committed to providing quality music; knowledge of church music is preferred; basic knowledge of audio equipment; willingness to work as a team; knowledge and understanding of worship and the leadership role required of the pianist.
All staff will successfully pass a background check and complete ongoing Safe Sanctuary® training as prescribed by the United Methodist Church.
Details of this Position
Compensation: $43-47 per hour; Paid Time Off;
Work Schedule: 3-6 hours/week. Work schedule to be self-determined in coordination with Pastor.
