Responsibilities
- Review and interpret detailed construction drawings, technical specifications, and blueprints to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs for structural steel components.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Xactimate to develop comprehensive bids that reflect project scope and client expectations.
- Conduct thorough cost analysis, manage project budgets, and implement cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to negotiate contracts, pricing terms, and scope adjustments to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously by coordinating with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials.
- Apply construction site experience to assess logistical challenges and incorporate site-specific factors into estimates.
- Review construction drawings meticulously to identify potential issues early, ensuring accurate estimation of materials and labor needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in managing projects as a construction estimator within the heavy civil or structural steel industry.
- Strong proficiency in construction drawing review, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints.
- Skilled in using Bluebeam for digital markup and document management; familiarity with HeavyBid, Xactimate, and other estimating tools is highly desirable.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Deep understanding of construction contracts, project management principles, and cost management techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to control costs effectively across multiple projects through strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Construction site experience that enhances your ability to anticipate challenges and incorporate real-world conditions into estimates.
