Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine immediate needs.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, injections, and wound care, following all safety protocols.
- Monitor patients’ conditions continuously, recognizing signs of acute pain, infection, or deterioration requiring prompt intervention.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
- Manage airway maintenance and ventilator support for critical patients in intensive or acute care settings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute or hospice care services.
Experience
- Valid RN or LPN license with current state certification required; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) are essential.
- Prior experience working in hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers highly preferred; ICU or emergency room experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in critical care areas including acute pain management, infectious disease care, and trauma response.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate medical documentation.
- Background in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities is advantageous; familiarity with dementia and memory care practices is desirable.
- Proven ability to perform patient assessments involving physiology knowledge, specimen collection/processing, and sterile techniques such as suturing or spinal taps when necessary.
