Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with experience in heavy equipment and various mechanical systems. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles including tractor-trailers, farm machinery, and industrial equipment.
- Conduct diagnostics using automotive diagnostic tools to identify issues with engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC.
- Repair or replace faulty components such as shocks & struts, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for assembly and repair tasks.
- Interpret schematics for electrical systems and mechanical assemblies to troubleshoot problems effectively.
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators and cranes as needed for repairs or maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their vehicle needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a mechanic with a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair techniques.
- Dealership experience is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge across various systems including diesel engine repair.
- Familiarity with heavy lifting techniques and the ability to lift heavy objects safely.
- Experience with fabrication, tire service, assembly, and equipment repair is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills along with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills to provide clear information to customers regarding repairs needed.
