Job Purpose
The Westsound Company is seeking a skilled and dependable Carpenter with strong integrity and a solid understanding of commercial construction practices. This role supports all phases of field construction with an emphasis on structural concrete, concrete tilt‑up, pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), wood and metal framing, and both rough and finish carpentry.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrive on-site on time and prepared for the workday
- Participate in all phases of the commercial construction process
- Demonstrate willingness to learn new methods, tools, and construction systems
- Meet daily and weekly goals as outlined by project supervisors
- Follow instructions accurately and provide leadership and guidance to apprentices and laborers
- Apply and enforce construction safety standards across all work activities
- Interpret and work from civil, structural, and architectural drawings
- Utilize power tools, hand tools, and specialty tools safely and effectively
- Apply construction math skills, including geometry, layout and build tasks
- Communicate material, equipment, and manpower needs proactively
- Perform accurate layout, including batter boards, elevations, and structural grid lines
- Build and install concrete formwork systems
- Frame walls, floors, roofs, and other structural assemblies
- Install and assist in the erection of PEMB systems, including framing, siding, and roofing
Qualifications
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality
- Prior commercial construction experience required
- Ability to follow direction quickly and efficiently
- Team-oriented attitude and ability to collaborate with field crews
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs., including overhead lifting
- Ability to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist continuously or intermittently
- Adequate vision and hearing abilities
Required Training / Certifications
- OSHA 10 (Preferred)
- First Aid / CPR (Preferred)
- Forklift Certification (Preferred)
- Mobile Elevated Work Platform Certification (Preferred)
- Driver’s License (Preferred)
Pay: $30.00 - $43.20 per hour
