Mentally Steady Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Qualified Mental Health Professional to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapy to diverse populations. Your expertise will help individuals and families navigate mental health challenges, promote recovery, and improve overall well-being. This role delivers direct services, crisis intervention, skills training, and coordination of care to support clients in their natural environments. Local travel is required.
Duties
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to accurately identify mental health conditions.
- Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions focused on issues like grief, trauma (including PTSD), addiction, gender identity, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and chronic pain management.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety during emergencies.
- Maintain detailed medical records and documentation compliant with HIPAA regulations; utilize medical terminology effectively in clinical notes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management, patient care coordination, and clinical research initiatives to optimize treatment outcomes.
- Engage in telehealth services to expand access to mental health care while ensuring quality and confidentiality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a behavioral or human services field (e.g., psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, or related), OR meet the QMHP-CS (Qualified Mental Health Professional – Community Services) credentialing requirements as defined by Texas administrative rules, which may include relevant paid or volunteer experience in lieu of a degree in some cases.
- Valid licensure or certification as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or equivalent credential.
- Proven experience working with children, adolescents and adults
- Proficiency in psychotherapy techniques including motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, psychopharmacology knowledge, and crisis management skills.
- Familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for diagnosis documentation; experience with CPT coding is a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical records management and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for intake assessments, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to work effectively via telehealth platforms while maintaining professional standards of confidentiality and patient engagement.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations throughout the day
- Ability to pass required background checks (criminal history, child/adult abuse registry, motor vehicle).
- Ability to work in varied community environments (schools, shelters, homes, outdoor settings).
- May require occasional evening hours to accommodate after-school programming.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children, adolescents, adults and at-risk populations.
- Experience providing services in school or community-based settings.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and crisis intervention models.
- Strong assessment, intervention, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in the field and manage a variable schedule.
- Effective communication and collaboration with diverse populations and community partners.
- Crisis management and de-escalation skills.
