EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position provides support to MCC’s dual credit partners through academic advising, information and orientation sessions for parents/students, student registration, and enrollment support for high school counselors. The Dual Credit Navigator will spend a minimum 80% of work hours on assigned high school campuses. This position receives general direction from the Lead Dual Credit Navigator and exercises no supervision. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.SELECTION CRITERIA: The cover letter should address how the following knowledge, skills, and abilities were acquired: Knowledge of: 1. High School Programs, policies, and student eligibility requirements; 2. University Center programs, transfer pathways, policies, and student requirements; 3. College admission, registration, advising, and financial aid processes; 4. Degree plans, transfer requirements, and articulation agreements between secondary and postsecondary institutions; 5. Principles of student development, academic advising, and college readiness; 6. Basic computer applications and student information systems, including Microsoft Office and related educational software; Skills in: 7. Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; 8. Establishing rapport and maintaining effective communication with students, parents, and educational partners; 9. Managing multiple complex tasks and deadlines simultaneously; 10. Applying critical thinking and problem-solving strategies to meet student needs; 11. Organizing, prioritizing, and completing work in a timely and accurate manner; 12. Utilizing technology and data to support student success and program operations; Ability to: 13. Build and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with students, staff, faculty, and external partners; 14. Analyze information, interpret academic and policy requirements, and make sound, informed decisions; 15. Demonstrate empathy and understanding when assisting students in challenging or sensitive situations; 16. Work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; 17. Adapt to changing procedures, policies, and program requirements; 18. Provide caring, high-quality service by creating welcoming experiences, communicating clearly and proactively, addressing needs with professionalism and empathy, and ensuring individuals are thoughtfully connected to appropriate resources.WORKING CONDITIONS: Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
