Night Operations Supervisor — Assisted Living & Memory Care
Salaried Leadership Position | Regular Schedule: 9:00 PM–7:00 AM, Four Nights Per Week
Tucson, Arizona | Manager License Strongly Preferred
If you are the person others naturally turn to when something needs to be handled, this may be the role you've been looking for.
Tucson Assisted Living Retreat is seeking an experienced Night Operations Supervisor to take ownership of the community overnight. We are looking for someone who can lead people, make sound decisions, maintain high standards, and ensure residents receive excellent care throughout the night.
This is not simply an overnight caregiver position. It is a leadership position for someone who wants responsibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a noticeable difference in how a community operates.

Regular schedule: 9:00 PM–7:00 AM
Four 10-hour overnight shifts each week
This is a management position. Your regular schedule provides consistency, but leadership sometimes requires flexibility when resident, staffing, or operational needs arise.
At TALR, that responsibility is shared. Our expectation is not that one manager continually sacrifices their days off or becomes the permanent answer to every call-off. We expect our management team to communicate, problem-solve, and support one another so that unusual situations are handled collectively and the burden does not continually fall on the same person.
The 9:00 PM–7:00 AM schedule also supports clear, consistent handoffs with both the evening and morning teams.
What You Will Own Overnight
When you arrive, you become the operational leader for the night.
You will:
- Supervise and support caregivers and medication technicians
- Ensure resident care assignments and overnight responsibilities are completed
- Monitor staff performance and address concerns as they occur
- Respond appropriately to resident changes, falls, behaviors, emergencies, and other unexpected situations
- Take an active leadership role in resolving unexpected staffing issues
- Step into resident care when necessary while maintaining awareness of the entire community
- Ensure incidents and significant resident changes are properly documented
- Communicate important overnight information clearly to the incoming team
- Maintain a calm, organized, professional environment throughout the night
Medication Management Is an Important Part of This Role
The Night Operations Supervisor will also help keep TALR's medication system accurate, organized, and ready for the next day.
Responsibilities include:
- Completing medication reconciliation
- Reviewing medication records for accuracy and completeness
- Identifying and following up on medication discrepancies
- Keeping medication carts clean, organized, and in good condition
- Ensuring medication cards and blister packs are current, organized, legible, and properly maintained
- Monitoring medication supplies and identifying refill needs
- Identifying missing medications or documentation before they become urgent problems
- Completing routine medication-cart audits
- Following up on medication-related issues that require pharmacy, provider, or management attention
- Helping maintain a medication system that is consistently organized and survey-ready
If you are an experienced med-tech who notices immediately when something isn't right with a medication cart or MAR, that attention to detail will be highly valued here.
We Want a Leader, Not Someone Who Simply Wants to be a Boss.
The right person is solution-oriented and works to identify and implement practical fixes first, escalating to other members of the management team when additional support or authority is needed.
You should be comfortable assessing a situation, deciding what needs to happen, directing staff, solving problems, and collaborating with the rest of the management team when circumstances require it.
You are probably a strong fit if:
- People naturally look to you for direction
- You notice problems before someone has to point them out
- You can respectfully hold direct reports accountable
- You stay calm when several things happen at once
- You are organized and pay attention to details
- You communicate clearly
- You follow through
- You understand that leadership sometimes means helping on the floor
- You are willing to support fellow managers when unusual circumstances arise
- You expect that same teamwork and support from the rest of the management team
- You can step in when needed without losing sight of your responsibility for the entire building
At 2:00 AM, we need someone capable of thinking:
"I know what needs to happen next."
Our Residents Require Strong Care
Tucson Assisted Living Retreat provides assisted living and memory care for residents who may have significant care needs.
Our team supports residents with:
- Dementia and memory loss
- ADLs and personal care
- Transfers and mobility assistance
- Behavioral needs
- Medication management
- Higher-acuity care
- End-of-life care
Experience in memory care, assisted living, skilled nursing, home health, or another high-acuity senior-care environment is required.
You Will Have Support
Leadership at TALR is a team responsibility.
The Night Operations Supervisor is expected to take ownership of the overnight operation, but you are also part of a management team that works together when unusual staffing, resident, or operational situations arise.
Our goal is simple: managers support one another so that no single person continually carries the burden.
TALR also has dedicated team members handling responsibilities caregivers are often expected to absorb elsewhere, including a:
- Full-time chef
- Full-time housekeeper
- Activities director
That allows our caregiving and supervisory staff to devote more attention to resident care, medication management, staff leadership, and the operation of the community.
Qualifications
Strongly preferred:
- Arizona Assisted Living Facility Manager certification, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Assisted living or memory care leadership experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Strong medication-management or med-tech experience
- Experience with higher-acuity residents
Required:
- Current Arizona Caregiver Certification
- Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Food Handler's Card
- Memory Care Training Certificate
- Current two-step TB documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to supervise and coach staff
- Ability to physically assist residents when needed
- Dependable transportation
- Consistent and reliable attendance
- The flexibility and leadership mindset required to help when unusual operational needs arise
Reliability Matters Here
The person supervising the community overnight has to be someone residents, caregivers, and the rest of the management team can depend on.
Leadership at TALR means more than completing your scheduled shift. It means taking ownership, communicating, following through, solving problems, and supporting the management team when circumstances require it.
That responsibility goes both ways.
We expect our managers to support one another, and we are intentionally building a management structure where one dependable person is not continually expected to carry everyone else.
Why This Position Could Be a Great Next Step
If you are already an experienced caregiver, med-tech, shift lead, RCC, or assisted living manager and feel capable of more responsibility, this role gives you an opportunity to actually use those skills.
You won't simply be assigned a hallway and told to get through the shift.
You will have responsibility for:
People. Resident care. Medication systems. Communication. Accountability. Overnight operations and successfully training new staff.
Your regular schedule is four 10-hour overnight shifts per week, providing substantial consistency while still carrying the flexibility and shared responsibility that come with being a member of the management team.
