Job Overview
We are looking for a friendly, organized, and dependable Camp Director to lead our summer camp program in Youngstown, Ohio. The Camp Director will help create a safe, fun, and positive experience for children and youth.
This person will oversee daily camp activities, support staff and volunteers, communicate with families, and make sure campers are safe, included, and engaged.
Duties
- Plan and lead daily camp activities.
- Supervise counselors, activity leaders, and volunteers.
- Help create a safe, welcoming, and positive camp environment.
- Follow safety rules and respond to emergencies when needed.
- Communicate with parents or guardians about camper needs or concerns.
- Help plan special events, themed weeks, sports, arts, theater, and enrichment activities.
- Make sure the camp follows childcare, health, and safety rules.
- Manage schedules, supplies, and daily camp operations.
Skills and Experience
- Experience working with children in a camp, school, daycare, or youth program.
- Strong leadership and people skills.
- Ability to manage camper behavior in a calm and respectful way.
- Good communication skills with children, parents, staff, and volunteers.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Experience with sports, arts, tutoring, theater, or faith-based youth programs is a plus.
- Must be able to pass background testing BCI/FBI
