We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dental Insurance Coordinator to join our dynamic dental practice team. Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments using electronic health records (EHR) systems and insurance portals.
- Obtain insurance prior authorizations for dental procedures, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and submitted promptly.
- Accurately code dental procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards to facilitate billing processes.
- Review medical records and dental charts to ensure proper documentation aligns with clinical confidentiality policies and insurance requirements.
- Manage claims submission and follow-up processes for unpaid or denied claims, working closely with managed care organizations to resolve issues efficiently.
- Maintain comprehensive records of insurance verifications, claims, payments, and correspondence in electronic health records (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service by explaining insurance benefits, coverage limitations, and billing procedures clearly to patients.
Skills (Desired but we'll train the right candidate)
- Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and medical billing practices specific to dental care.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, CPT coding, ADA codes and Eaglesoft software
- Experience with insurance verification, prior authorization procedures, and claims processing within a medical office setting.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to protect patient information at all times.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes.
- Strong customer service skills with a professional approach to addressing patient inquiries regarding insurance coverage and billing issues.
