Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Patient Intake: Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms.
- Vitals & Measurements: Accurately measure and record patient vitals, including manual blood pressure, pulse, and respirations.
- Point-of-Care Testing: Perform and document in-house lab tests such as urinalysis, hemoglobin checks, glucose checks, and urine pregnancy tests.
- Phlebotomy & IVs: Draw blood for laboratory testing and perform IV insertions.
- Specimen Handling: Collect and prepare specimens for external lab analysis and complete lab requisitions.
- Injections: Administer various types of injections as directed by a healthcare provider.
- Catheter Care: Assist with minor procedures, including the removal of catheters.
- Room & Instrument Prep: Clean and sanitize exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and set up rooms for providers prior to patient encounters.
Administrative & Clerical Duties
- Patient Information: Accurately collect and update patient demographics and medical history.
- EMR Documentation: Use the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for all patient and clinical documentation.
- Computer Skills: Demonstrate basic computer skills, including typing, printing, and scanning documents.
- Scheduling: Schedule patient appointments and manage the daily patient flow.
- Check-in/Check-out: Check patients in and out, verify insurance information, and collect payments.
- Clerical Tasks: Prepare and organize documents, including surgical packets.
- Supply Management: Order and receive supplies and maintain a clean, organized station.
Requirements
- Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting required.
- Skills: Proficiency in phlebotomy, EMR systems, and point-of-care testing. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
- Flexibility & Travel: Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations when the primary office is closed or when additional staffing is required due to heavy schedules at another site.
- Professionalism: Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor with patients and staff.
- Compliance: Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
All job responsibilities are done under the direct supervision of a Nurse Practitioner. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:15 am to 6:00 pm (or until the last patient leaves). No weekends or holidays!
