Job Summary
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in evidence-based therapeutic modalities, clinical assessment, and treatment planning. This role involves delivering individual, group, and family therapy within outpatient, inpatient, or telehealth settings, ensuring compassionate patient care while adhering to clinical standards and ethical guidelines. The therapist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized treatment strategies that promote mental well-being and recovery.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to inform treatment plans.
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapy approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and behavioral therapy tailored to individual needs.
- Facilitate child & family counseling sessions, including child & youth therapy, grief counseling, and behavior management interventions.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute psychiatric episodes effectively and ensure patient safety.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical documentation standards within electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments, incorporating research findings and best practices in mental health care.
- Engage in case management activities to coordinate care with other healthcare providers, social workers, and support systems for holistic patient support.
- Conduct group therapy sessions focusing on social skills development, addiction counseling, or support for co-occurring disorders.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives to enhance therapeutic techniques and contribute to the advancement of behavioral health knowledge.
- Ensure adherence to clinical ethical guidelines while delivering culturally competent care that respects client diversity.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related mental health field; licensure as a LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent required.
- Proven experience working with children, adolescents, or adults in outpatient or inpatient settings; experience with hospital environments is advantageous.
- Proficiency in evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy (TFT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and psychopharmacology knowledge preferred.
- Strong skills in crisis management, behavior management, and medical documentation standards aligned with HIPAA compliance.
- Familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis documentation; experience with CPT coding is a plus.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for client engagement and multidisciplinary team collaboration; telehealth experience is beneficial.
- Knowledge of clinical research methodologies and data collection techniques related to mental health outcomes.
