American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical travel position in Alexandria, LA, with a focus on post-surgical and neuro patient populations.

Acute Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting
-
Patient population includes post-surgical patients (orthopedics, general surgery) and neurological populations
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1–6:1 depending on staffing
-
Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
-
Weekends may be required based on scheduling needs
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Floating to other units is a possibility
-
Epic EMR experience is a bonus but not required
-
13-week contract
-
Active RN license in Louisiana or a Compact state currently in hand

Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates

US Social Security Number required for consideration

Provides routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation

Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness

Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
-
Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
-
Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers
-
BSN is preferred but not required

Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility at the conclusion of the contract
