Reports to: Aspen High School Athletic Director & AHS Girls Swim & Dive Head Coach

Classification: Part-time

Contract Period: November 9, 2026 to February 6, 2027

Title: AHS Girls Swim & Dive Assistant Coach

Position Summary: The assistant coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in the execution of planning, directing and leading an education based athletic program that seeks to develop athletes of empathy and integrity.

Qualifications:

Must meet the coaching requirements of CHSAA and/or the State Department of Education.
Must align with the ethical standards & mission established by the Athletic Department.
Experience playing, and coaching in an Education Based athletic program preferred.
Must successfully complete all district employee paperwork & background check.

This position reports to: The Girsl Swim & Dive Head Coach and the AHS Athletic Director.

Responsibilities:

Accept and implement the athletic philosophy of Aspen High School.
Follow the rules and regulations of the school, the conference and CHSAA.
Be organized, prepared, and punctual; and manage resources, meet deadlines, follow through on commitments, demonstrate appropriate physical appearance relative to job and environmental expectations.
Demonstrate integrity and leadership skills, strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail; and have the ability to lead and work independently and as a member of the team.
Develop and maintain rapport and effective relationships with students and adults contacted in carrying out duties and responsibilities by using courtesy, diplomacy, collaboration, cooperation, support, and professional conduct.
Maintain up to date yearly coach certifications per CHSAA.
Attend all practices and competitions both home & away.
Attend clinics, seminars and in-service programs to improve coaching skills and to stay current with new trends in coaching, training, conditioning and safety procedures.
Attend mandatory department meetings and evaluations as required by the Head Coach and/or the Athletic Director.
Assist head coach with the organization, scheduling and supervision of schedules and sessions.
Help supervise the use of equipment, and assist with the distribution and collection of uniforms, equipment and supplies.
Maintain appropriate supervision of the program at all times (locker rooms, practices, events, bus rides, etc.). Supervise any and all spaces as they are being used by athletes and other coaching staff.
Ride with the team, ensuring good behavior and safety during transit.
Help provide safe and comfortable accommodations during out-of-area and overnight events, and guide players in upholding team rules and policies; and oversee meal times to ensure healthy choices and adherence to dietary guidelines.
Regularly inspect equipment and facilities to ensure the safety of each student athlete and staff.
Assist head coach with written annual inventory and make recommendations for purchases to the Athletic Director.
Be responsible for reporting scores, statistics, and disseminating team information on MaxPreps and for publicity.
Assist the Head Coach with ensuring all athletics are certified to participate by the Athletic & Sports Medicine office.
Assures that the team will reflect proper attitude and conduct at all times at home or away.
Maintain high ethical standards, legal responsibility, and confidentiality.
Be willing to accept all other duties as assigned by the Head Coach & Athletic Director.

Terms of Employment: Duration of the assignment is one-season. Compensation is by stipend at the end of the season.
