Job Summary
Children’s Nest Day School in Lutz is looking to hire a Lead Toddler Teacher.
The Lead Toddler Teacher position is from 8:00AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday, though flexibility is possible. This position requires a teacher with their DCF 45 hours, or the willingness to complete it within the first 30 days, with higher pay if you have your CDA.
The ideal teacher would love working with young children and guiding them through a time where some of the fastest development occurs. Duties
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that promote early literacy, math skills, social-emotional growth, and physical activity tailored to toddlers’ needs.
- Lead daily classroom activities, ensuring a balanced mix of play-based learning, structured lessons, and free exploration that encourages curiosity and independence.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement strategies, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for all children.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns to build strong partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws and maintain accurate records of child observations, assessments, and incident reports.
- Supervise assistant teachers and support staff to promote teamwork, effective classroom management, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain a safe classroom environment by adhering to health and safety regulations, including first aid and CPR certifications.
Skills
- Extensive experience working with young children in early childhood education or daycare settings.
- Strong knowledge of child development principles, childhood welfare standards, and behavior management techniques.
- Proven ability to develop curriculum content that integrates literacy education, math concepts, physical education, and social skills.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, staff, and community partners.
- Skilled in classroom management strategies that foster a positive learning environment for toddlers.
- Familiarity with special education practices and early intervention methods to support diverse learning needs.
- Ability to plan lessons aligned with preschool standards while incorporating hands-on activities that promote active learning.
- Knowledge of mandated reporting laws related to child safety and welfare compliance.
- First aid and CPR certification to ensure immediate response in emergencies.
- Experience with standardized testing or assessments relevant to early childhood development is a plus.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
