We sell at our plant parlor and at local farmers markets, and we're constantly improving how we work, discovering new varieties, and pushing what a plant shop can be. The Role
As Plant Parlor Manager, you'll run our plant parlor — caring for the plants, helping customers, managing inventory, and keeping the shop beautiful. You'll learn our full product line, our wholesale buying process, and the rare and exotic varieties that make Grow Queen special, all while helping us improve our workflows and master new tools.
What You'll Do
- Manage daily operations of the plant parlor, keeping the space clean, organized, and inviting
- Schedule shifts and coordinate coverage for other employees
- Care for our houseplants and rare varieties — watering, pruning, repotting, pest management, and diagnosing plant health issues
- Help customers find the right plants and teach them how to care for them
- Learn our full product line and how to sell it confidently
- Learn the wholesale buying environment for the plant shop and our farmers market presence
- Manage inventory and stock levels, including receiving and merchandising new product
- Use Shopify for sales, inventory, and order management
- Use AI tools to work more efficiently across the business
- Represent Grow Queen at farmers markets as needed
- Build deep knowledge of rare and exotic plant varieties
What We're Looking For
- A true passion for plants, especially houseplants
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of houseplant care and the ability to keep plants thriving
- Customer service experience in some form
- Comfortable learning and using technology — Shopify, AI tools, and inventory systems
- Reliable and available Monday–Friday, with flexibility for occasional weekends
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to run the shop independently
- Eager to keep learning — about products, rare varieties, and the wholesale side of the business
Nice to Have
- Prior retail, garden center, nursery, or plant shop experience
- Experience with Shopify or similar POS/e-commerce platforms
- Farmers market or wholesale buying experience
Schedule & Pay
Full-time, Monday–Friday with occasional weekend shifts (and weekday days off when working weekends). Starts at $24/hour as a 1099 contractor during training, then converts to a W-2 position at $25/hour once training is complete. Plus an employee discount — and all the plants.
