Job Overview
A high quality, commercial printer in Shelton, CT is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Bindery Craftsman to join our dynamic print production team. This position will focus on cutting and also include folding, saddle-stiching, and perfect binding.
In this vital role, you will be responsible for executing finishing processes that bring printed materials to life with precision and quality. Your expertise in machine operation, paper binding, and finishing techniques will ensure that each project meets our high standards of excellence. Duties
- Operate and maintain bindery equipment including cutting machines, folding machines to ensure smooth workflow and optimal output.
- Perform paper binding tasks such as saddle stitching, perfect binding, spiral binding, and other finishing techniques to produce professional-quality materials.
- Interpret production documents accurately to determine specifications for print finishing, ensuring adherence to client requirements.
- Conduct quality control checks throughout the finishing process to identify and correct issues related to print alignment, color accuracy, and mechanical performance.
- Adjust industrial equipment settings and perform routine maintenance to maximize machine efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with graphic design teams and prepress operators to ensure seamless transition from digital files to finished products.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating bindery machinery such as cutters, folders, and binding equipment in a manufacturing or print shop environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on industrial equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications accurately and follow detailed instructions for complex finishing tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality control throughout all stages of production.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
