Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee the church’s financial records, reporting, and compliance. This role combines 60% tactical and 40% strategic responsibilities, with a strong focus on data accuracy, financial analysis, and actionable reporting. The Senior Accountant will ensure responsible stewardship of church resources by consolidating financial data across ministries and delivering clear, data-driven insights to support executive decision-making. This role interfaces with both external and internal stakeholders including but not limited to suppliers, private equity ownership, operations, quality, sales, finance, engineering, and supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Manage accounts payable, including invoice review, approval, and processing
- Post general ledger entries and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Process check requests, tithes, and offerings with confidentiality and integrity
- Record all revenue streams and expenditures across platforms
- Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for staff and ministry leaders
- Develop executive-level financial summaries and presentation materials
- Lead Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and assist with budgeting and financial planning processes
- Reconcile all bank and credit card statements; monitor cash flow and report discrepancies to the CFO
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
- Manage payroll processing and related reporting
- Support annual audits or financial reviews
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with church leadership, staff, and ministry leaders
- Support a culture of continuous improvement in financial processes
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required), MBA preferred
- 3–5+ years of experience in accounting, FP&A, or finance (nonprofit or church experience preferred)
- Experience with ACS or similar church accounting systems (a plus)
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar systems)
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles is a plus

- Experience with Pushpay or similar platforms (preferred)
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Work Environment
- Standard office environment within a church setting
- Remote work eligibility (1 day per week) may be considered after 6–12 months of employment, based on performance and approval

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
