Corry Memorial Hospital is seeking a head cook to oversees and assist with daily food production and flow of the Dietary Department. Supervises all Cooks and Dietary Aides. Completes weekly food and supply inventory and completes food/supply orders. Assists with maintaining the Dietary Budget. Assists with equipment training, maintenance, and record keeping. Directs and carries out special function events related to food services. Assists with patient satisfaction of Food Services by assuring special diets and requests are adhered to. Performs daily managerial tasks in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
- Complies with high standards of food preparation and service.
- Follows Erie County and PA Department of Health Regulations and Standards.
- Maintains sanitation and safety standards.
- Communicates well with co-workers and staff and other departments.
- Train department staff.
- Supervise food production and services.
- Creates and maintains all recipe books and prep sheets for Cooks
- Coordinates special meal functions for special events for the hospital.
- Manages food and equipment inventory and direct all food orders.
- Assists with Department record keeping
- Assists with Department policy and procedure development with Dietary Manager and Dietitian
- Coordinates and communicates with Dietitian; obtain signatures as needed.
- Accounts for employee productivity.
- Assists Cooks with patient and café foods for meals, all special orders and luncheons, observing recipe specifications and changes.
- Serve appealing food in proper serving sizes promptly.
- Maintain neat, safe, and sanitary work area at all times
- Understands therapeutic diets and can assist staff with providing correct menu items to patients
- Reviews patient preferences with patients as needed in conjunction with Dietitian.
- May attend meetings related to safety or others as deemed appropriate
- Any other duties as directed by management.
- May fill in as the Café Head Cook or Dietary Manger as needed.
- May also fill in as Cooks or Dietary Aides as needed.
Minimal High School Diploma with at least three years of experience in large quantity cooking in a healthcare facility preferred. Previous supervisory experience required. Bachelors or Associate Degree in Food Systems Management, Nutrition or related degree or a Certification in Dietary Management (CDM) preferred. Food Safety Certification required. Knowledge of healthcare related diets preferred.
