Position Summary
Project Manager / Estimator is responsible for both pre-construction estimating and full project management of structural building projects. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, coordinating with clients and internal teams, and overseeing project execution to ensure successful delivery on time and within budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Estimating Responsibilities
- Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Perform detailed material take-offs for structural components (steel, metal buildings, roofing systems, etc.).
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Develop and submit competitive bids and proposals within deadlines.
- Analyze project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities.
- Maintain cost databases and estimating records for future projects.
Project Management Responsibilities
- Manage structural construction projects from RPQ through shipping.
- Accurately enter orders for production.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Review and interpret blueprints and structural drawings for accuracy and constructability.
- Monitor project progress, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Manage change orders, contracts, and cost controls throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct site visits to ensure safety compliance, quality control, and progress tracking.
- Resolve project issues and mitigate risks in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide regular project updates to stakeholders and clients.
- Ensure all documentation and project closeout requirements are completed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in both estimating and project management within structural or construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of pre-engineered building systems, materials, and construction processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–7+ years of experience in construction estimating and/or project management.
- Experience with structural steel, pre-engineered metal buildings, roofing systems, or similar components preferred.
- Proficiency in estimating software and construction/project management tools (e.g., iSqFt. - Construct Connect, Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, or similar).
- Strong understanding of budgeting, cost control, and contract management.
- Strong background in customer service and team collaboration.
Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
