Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and blood sampling using aseptic technique to ensure safe and efficient specimen collection.
- Collect, label, and process blood and other specimens accurately following established laboratory procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs and provide compassionate patient care during specimen collection.
- Maintain detailed records of specimen collection, processing steps, and patient information with precision.
- Follow strict safety protocols, including heavy lifting and proper handling of biohazard materials, to uphold laboratory safety standards.
- Assist with laboratory techniques such as specimen processing, centrifugation, and preparation for testing.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and ensure comfort throughout the process.
Requirements
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or medical laboratory work, preferably within a hospital or clinical setting.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and blood sampling techniques such as venipuncture and capillary puncture.
- Certification or training in basic life support (BLS) and CPR is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices including aseptic technique and infection control measures.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and stand for extended periods during specimen collection sessions.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Prior experience with hospital or clinical laboratory environments is preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates.
