Essential Functions:
Performs required labor involved in the construction and maintenance for various systems as part of a crew including pavement cutting, ditch digging, spraying pesticides and herbicides, manhole and line cleaning, water/sewer main and pipe repair, mowing, laying asphalt, and back filling.
Inspects and repairs systems such as parks, water, storm water, and sewer to ensure that all aspects of the assigned system are functioning properly.
Evaluates and responds to complaints regarding assigned system and communicates those issues to the specified supervisor.
Operates light and medium-sized construction and power equipment and tools; performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance such as cleaning and repairing equipment and tools as needed.
Maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, assigned supervisor, and the general public.
Additional Duties:
On-Call Rotation for weekends and events.
Performs related work as assigned.

Performs semi-skilled work involving set procedures and rules, requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results or occasional exposure to unusual pressure.

The impact of errors is moderate – affects those in work unit.
Physical Demands:
Performs medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 to 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
Equipment Usage:
Leads or handles machines, tools, equipment or work aids involving moderate latitude for judgment regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items.
Unavoidable Hazards:
May at times work outside and in inclement weather, around construction equipment, have exposure to vibration, fumes or noxious odors.
Involves routine and frequent exposure to extreme noise levels; animals/wildlife.
Safety of Others: (Does not include safety of subordinates).
Requires responsibility for the safety and health of others and for occasional enforcement of the laws and standards of public health and safety.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.

Requires some experience in equipment and city maintenance, public works, construction or repair, or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses:

Valid Florida Driver’s License.
