About MLS Consulting LLC
MLS Consulting LLC is a growing accounting and tax advisory firm based in Arizona. We support business owners, individuals, and growing companies through tax preparation, accounting, advisory, and financial support services.
Our team values accuracy, responsiveness, collaboration, and a client-first mindset. We are looking for professionals who take pride in their work, communicate clearly, and want to grow with a firm that is continuously improving its processes and services.
About the Role
We are hiring a Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting advisory firm. In this role, you will support business owners and growing companies by delivering timely, accurate, and actionable financial information.
This is not a basic data-entry bookkeeping role. We are looking for someone who can manage month-end processes, maintain accurate accounting records, prepare clear financial reports, identify open items or discrepancies, and communicate professionally with both internal team members and clients when needed.
The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, is highly organized, and can move confidently between detailed transactional work and a broader view of a client’s financial picture. Experience in construction or real estate is helpful, but not required.
Responsibilities
· Manage and review client accounting records, including month-end close, bank and credit card reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries.
· Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and related reporting schedules.
· Review client-provided information and identify missing documentation, discrepancies, or open items needed to maintain accurate books.
· Communicate with clients as needed to request clarifications, resolve outstanding items, and support the timely completion of monthly deliverables.
· Prepare organized workpapers, reconciliations, and internal notes to support reviewer handoff, tax preparation, and year-end close.
· Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, payroll-related accounting, or tax-season support, depending on client and firm needs.
· Coordinate with internal tax, bookkeeping, and operations teams to ensure clear handoffs and a consistent client experience.
· Review and help improve client bookkeeping processes to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and financial visibility.
· Work efficiently within firm deadlines, workflow systems, and established accounting procedures.
· Collaborate with the team and provide guidance or support to junior staff members when appropriate.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a client accounting, public accounting, or professional-services environment.
· Solid experience with month-end close processes, account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
· Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and organized spreadsheet-based analysis.
· Ability to review financial information, identify issues, and maintain clean, well-documented accounting records.
· Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple client deadlines independently.
· Comfortable communicating directly with clients when needed.
· Comfortable working remotely in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
· Preference for candidates located in or near the Phoenix, Arizona area.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience working with multiple clients in a public accounting, outsourced accounting, or client accounting services environment.
· Experience supporting businesses in construction, real estate, or other service-based industries.
· Experience with QuickBooks Online, TaxDome, and cloud-based document or workflow systems.
· Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, budgeting, or cash flow reporting.
· CPA, CPA candidate, or other relevant accounting credential preferred, but not required.
Ideal Candidate
You are a Staff Accountant who takes pride in producing accurate, organized work and understands the importance of financial reporting that clients and internal teams can rely on. You are proactive, solutions-oriented, and comfortable communicating with clients while managing multiple priorities.
You enjoy working independently while collaborating with a remote team, and you can translate financial information into clear, practical insights that support better business decisions.
