Community Consolidated School District 62 in Des Plaines, Illinois is seeking Substitute Paraeducators for the 2024-2025 school year.
Qualifications:
District 62 Paraeducators:
Work with students and teachers to provide instructional support for meeting instructional program objectives.
Work with staff as a collaborative member of the instructional team.
Work with students in toileting and feeding.
Work with students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including children with autism
Work with students individually or in small groups to review, reinforce, enrich or expand upon skills or concepts presented by the classroom teacher.
Assist the classroom teacher in maintaining classroom discipline. Alert the classroom teacher(s) to any behavioral problems that limit the students' ability to complete their assignments.
Utilize confidential student information within school district guidelines for professional purposes only.
Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.
District Information:
District 62 has approximately 4,500 students in grades preK-8 in 8 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 1 early learning center, and 1 year-round, K-8 school.
Paraeducators work in the following prgrams:
- The Special Education Co-Taught Program provides academic intervention and instruction or the teaching of compensatory strategies in the general education settings for students identified with needs for specific academic and/or functional support in their least restrictive environment.
- The Resource Program provides for instruction aligned to the general education outcomes using a similar, slightly slowed pace. The resource program serves students requiring special education intervention and/or instruction to achieve or maintain academic success commensurate with grade level peers.
- The Instructional Program provides differentiated academic instruction, aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards, at each student’s individual academic level using specialized research based materials and methods in a least restrictive public school setting.
- The Behavioral and Emotional Supported Teaching (BEST) Program supports students whose behavior profiles demonstrate an inability to participate in general education settings without intensive adult support.
- The Educational Life Skills (ELS) Program is designed to meet the needs of students who have mild to severe cognitive abilities and who require a curriculum that focuses on adapted academics and functional life skills.
Hours and Compensation:
Substitute Pareducators work 6.5 hours per day at a rate of $15 per hour.
