Job Description:
We are looking for a fully licensed, dedicated Mental Health Counselor to provide counseling and therapeutic services to couples in Indiana. The successful candidate will work with couples to assess mental health needs, create treatment plans, and provide ongoing support in a supportive and empathetic environment. This is a great opportunity for an experienced counselor who is looking to make a real impact in the mental health field.
Responsibilities:
- Provide couples services to clients, addressing a range of mental health concerns.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on client needs.
- Conduct intake assessments and evaluations to determine the appropriate course of treatment.
- Offer crisis intervention and support when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress.
- Collaborate with a team of mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Stay current with mental health trends, research, and best practices.
- Educate clients and their families on mental health topics and coping strategies.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related social science field (required).
- Active, fully licensed mental health counselor in the state of Indiana (LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, LPC, or similar licensure required). At this time, we will not be accepting pre-licensed associates that are LSWs, but LMHCAs are encouraged to apply (due to supervision requirements by the state).
- Experience in providing mental health counseling services (2+ years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, therapeutic techniques, and crisis management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Training or certification in the Gottman Method (Level 1, 2, or Certified preferred).
- Experience providing couples and marriage counseling with diverse relationship structures.
- Knowledge of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples.
- Ability to assess and intervene in high-conflict relationship dynamics.
- Communication difficulties
- Infidelity and affair recovery
- Intimacy and sexual concerns
- Premarital counseling
- Parenting and co-parenting conflict
- Blended family dynamics
- Strong understanding of attachment theory and its application to relationships.
- Ability to remain neutral and balanced while working with both partners.
- Skilled in identifying when individual therapy, couples therapy, or referral is clinically appropriate.
- Experience with trauma-informed couples therapy and recognizing the impact of trauma on relationships.
