Senior Accountant – Marine Construction
Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Senior Accountant to support the accounting and financial operations of a growing company specializing in marine construction. This role will work closely with the Controller to manage month-end close, accounts receivable, accounts payable, job costing, and acquisition integration activities.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, enjoys improving processes, and can balance day-to-day accounting responsibilities with strategic support as the company continues to grow organically and through acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
· Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
· Maintain accuracy of the general ledger and financial reporting
· Support accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
· Assist with job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting for construction projects
· Support integration of acquired companies
· Prepare schedules and documentation for external auditors, tax preparers, and banks as needed
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
· 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, contracting, or project-based industries
· Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes
· Experience with job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting preferred
· Experience in construction ERP systems such as Acumatica, Sage, NetSuite or similar
· Experience with ERP integrations, Ramp preferred
· Advanced Excel skills required
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
· Experience supporting acquisitions or multi-entity accounting environments
