Construction Accounting Coordinator

Compensation: $48,000 - $52,000 annually, based on experience
Position Summary
Slater Brothers Enterprise (SBE) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Construction Accounting Coordinator to support our growing construction, excavation, and facility services operations.
This position will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting workflow of the company, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, charge account management, vendor administration, and QuickBooks maintenance.
The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, comfortable working independently, and capable of keeping multiple projects and financial processes organized in a fast-paced construction environment.
This role works closely with Operations, Project Management, and Ownership to ensure invoices are submitted promptly, vendors are paid accurately, customer payments are collected, and financial records remain organized and current.
Key Responsibilities: Billing & Accounts Receivable
- Create and submit customer invoices
- Assist with construction pay application processing
- Track invoice status and payment deadlines
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports
- Follow up on overdue customer balances
- Document collection efforts and customer communications
- Process and apply customer payments in QuickBooks
- Maintain billing records and supporting documentation
Accounts Payable
- Receive and enter vendor invoices
- Verify invoice approvals prior to payment
- Process vendor payments
- Maintain vendor records and documentation
- Reconcile vendor statements
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor inquiries
- Monitor payment due dates and cash requirements
Charge Accounts & Credit Cards
- Manage company charge accounts
- Reconcile monthly statements
- Match receipts and supporting documentation
- Follow up on missing receipts and coding information
QuickBooks Administration
- Maintain customer records
- Maintain vendor records
- Create and maintain project/job records
- Ensure accounting records remain accurate and organized
- Support month-end accounting processes
- Assist with reporting and financial record maintenance
Administrative Accounting Support
- Maintain W-9 files
- Maintain certificates of insurance
- Maintain vendor documentation
- Organize digital accounting records
- Support payroll processing when needed
- Assist with accounting and operational projects
QualificationsRequired
- 2+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, administrative, or related experience
- Experience using QuickBooks
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
- Construction industry experience

- Experience with ADP payroll systems
Success in This Role
Within the first six months, this person will:
- Ensure invoices are submitted accurately and on time
- Actively manage collections and accounts receivable follow-up
- Maintain vendor accounts and payment schedules
- Improve visibility into billing and cash flow processes
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records
- Reduce the accounting workload currently shared between Operations, Project Management, and Ownership
