Job Summary:
As the Fiber Splicer I, II, III, you will ultimately be responsible for splicing, testing, and maintaining fiber optic communication systems for aerial and underground telecommunications networks. You will install, troubleshoot, and activate fiber optic infrastructure while delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality network construction services. As the Fiber Splicer I, II, III, your customers are broadband providers, telecommunications clients, and internal construction teams, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through technical expertise, quality workmanship, and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
- Read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and cut sheets to determine work sequence
- Repair existing fiber lines or splice new fiber as required to complete testing and project certification
- Install passive and active devices, enclosures, and terminal panels
- Test fiber optic systems for continuity, signal quality, and balanced performance
- Pull fiber optic cable through existing duct packages and conduit using manual, mechanical, or blowing methods
- Splice and activate aerial and underground fiber optic communication systems
- Optimize new nodes and complete node splits to improve network capacity
- Utilize light meters, OTDRs, and other testing equipment to verify network performance
- Safely operate bucket trucks or climb utility poles to install and maintain fiber optic cable systems
- Complete production documentation, verify system performance after activation, and troubleshoot network issues as required
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies and applicable governmental regulations
- Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
Required Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of fiber optic splicing experience
- Experience with aerial and underground fiber optic construction
- Experience installing, testing, troubleshooting, and activating fiber optic communication systems

- Ability to safely lift and/or pull up to 80 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday
- Ability to safely use hand tools including screwdrivers, pliers, drills, and wrenches
- Commitment to performing work safely while maintaining quality and productivity
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating bucket trucks and other aerial work platforms
- Experience supporting broadband, cable television, or telecommunications construction projects
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods
- Ability to climb utility poles and safely operate bucket trucks and aerial work platforms
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to travel domestically as business needs require
