WE are a state-of-the-art, high-quality educational child care center focused on providing a nurturing environment for children ages 6 weeks - 12 years.Our center is open all year-round, Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Please only apply if you are available year-round during these days and times and for after hour events (occasional), if needed.
We are looking for (1) SPECIAL & UNIQUE individual to be the HEART of our school. We have a need to for an experienced FOOD SERVICE MANAGER/CHEF/COOK (FULL-TIME) to showcase their best cooking skills & techniques in our commercial kitchen...a place to call your own, a Chef's dream!
Reporting to the Academy Director, the Food Service Manager/Chef/Cook responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the planning and preparation/cooking of snacks and meals; orders and inventories all kitchen items. Ensures all health and safety standards are met; accepts temporary assignments within the academy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Plans and prepares/cooks snacks and meals in accordance with posted menus and nutrition regulations.
Determines meal and snack count and distributes food to each classroom
Removes trays and leftovers from classrooms and disposes accordingly
Performs weekly food and supply inventory
Submits list of needed items to Academy Director
Orders food and supply items from approved supplier, within budget set by Academy Director.
Checks-in supply deliveries to ensure accuracy of order placed.
Ensures that all state and local health department, licensing, safety and nutritional requirements are met
Follows standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensures that other staff in kitchen do the same
Keeps kitchen, including appliances, cabinets and all inventory, organized and clean
Attends and participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and academy events as requested.
Accepts temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled personnel are not available. For example: takes full responsibility for the classroom in the absence of the Teacher; assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise, if qualified to assist in classroom. Diaper changing/toileting assistance is prohibited until food preparation is complete for the day.
**Must be able & comfortable to learn & drive a 14 passenger school bus for our Before & After school students.**
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Must LOVE working with and alongside Children!
Must be 18 years of age and High School Graduate/GED holder
Must have experience in a Licensed Child Care Facility and/or School Setting
Must have knowledge of Texas State Minimum Standards
Must have knowledge of Food Drug Administration Regulations
Must maintain Food Manager and/or Food Handler's Certification (in addition to CPR, First Aid and the applicable transportation training as required by the state or local regulations)
2+ years of food service and commercial kitchen experience
Must have reliable transportation & have appropriate state driver's license in order to drive Kiddie Academy van to the store, bank, or assist with van runs and field trips, on an as needed basis
Must have satisfactory background check from Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
