A Brief Overview
Performs radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following duties.
Essential Job Duties
- Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures. Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy. Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
- Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply rescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Operates mobile radiologic equipment in clinic when applicable.
- Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
- Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
- Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
- Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed. Performs office work including, but not limited to, answering phone, obtaining information from computer, and ordering departmental supplies.
- Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2 years Experience in a hospital or clinical setting. Preferred
- Registered Technologist - ARRT Required
- Licensed Radiology Technologist (LRT) - KSBHA Kansas license must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire
