Children’s Lighthouse of Imperial in Sugar Land, TX, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Center Director to help lead our school operations, support teachers and families, and ensure that our center meets the highest standards of safety, education, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Center Director in all aspects of daily operations, staffing, and licensing compliance.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and supervising teachers and staff members.
- Maintain and review all documentation required by Texas Child Care Licensing (HHSC) — including staff records, children’s files, and safety logs.
- Help manage center scheduling, ratios, curriculum implementation, and classroom quality.
- Serve as a role model of professionalism, leadership, and customer service for all staff.
- Build strong relationships with families through communication, problem-solving, and community engagement.
- Assist with enrollment tours, family events, and marketing initiatives to grow and retain enrollment.
- Manage day-to-day administrative tasks such as tuition collection, reports, and supply ordering.
- Step in as acting director when the Center Director is unavailable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree / Associate degree in child development /Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with 2 years of experience in a licensed child care
- High school diploma or GED, plus 3 years of experience in a licensed child care center and 6 college credit hours in child development or early childhood education.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must meet HHSC background check and fingerprinting requirements.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Texas Child Care Licensing rules and recordkeeping standards.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience as an Assistant Director, Lead Teacher, or Curriculum Coordinator in a licensed preschool.
- Experience working in a franchise or multi-location early education environment.
- Ability to balance administrative duties with classroom and family engagement.
- Familiarity with parent communication tools and early childhood curriculum systems.
