Duties
- Offer peer-led support by sharing personal recovery experiences to motivate and inspire clients.
- Assist individuals in developing coping strategies through crisis intervention and crisis management techniques.
- Provide behavioral health education, including mental health counseling and addiction counseling, tailored to each person's needs.
- Employ motivational interviewing skills to encourage positive behavioral change and goal setting.
- Collaborate with clinical teams using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to document progress, interventions, and service plans accurately.
- Mentor clients through challenging situations, promoting self-efficacy and resilience.
- Respond promptly to crisis situations, ensuring safety and connecting clients with appropriate resources or emergency services as needed.
Qualifications
- Lived experience with mental health challenges, addiction recovery, or related behavioral health issues is essential.
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist from an approved program is required.
- Strong knowledge of crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavioral health principles.
- Experience in mental health counseling, addiction counseling, or social work is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques and familiarity with EHR systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly.
