Role Overview
The Barista is responsible for preparing exceptional drinks, assembling fresh sandwiches and specialty bagels, and delivering friendly, efficient service. This role blends food preparation, customer interaction, and daily café operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer service — Greet guests, take orders accurately, and ensure a positive café experience
- Drink preparation — Craft espresso beverages, brewed coffee, teas, and specialty drinks following recipes and quality standards
- Sandwich & bagel prep — Assemble hot and cold sandwiches, toast and prepare specialty bagels, portion ingredients, follow food‑safety standards, and maintain consistency in presentation and quality
- Food station upkeep — Keep prep areas stocked, sanitized, and organized throughout the shift
- Cash handling — Operate POS systems, process payments, and maintain accurate transactions
- Store upkeep — Maintain cleanliness of the bar, prep stations, seating areas, and restrooms
- Inventory support — Restock ingredients, monitor product levels, rotate food items, and assist with deliveries
- Team collaboration — Work closely with fellow baristas and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
Required Qualifications
- Prior barista or food‑service experience preferred but not required
- Ability to prepare food safely and follow standardized recipes
- Strong communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sandwich or café food prep
- Familiarity with espresso machines and café equipment
- Knowledge of coffee origins, brewing methods, and flavor profiles
- Experience in a café or restaurant setting
Work Environment & Schedule
- On‑site position
- Morning, midday, and weekend shifts available
- Part‑time or full‑time depending on business needs
