SchoolPics is seeking a detail-oriented Photo Editor to join our photo production lab team.
This is a production-focused role centered on processing high volumes of school portraits, class groups, sports teams, and panorama images. The core of the work involves manual pose selection and cropping, along with supporting Photoshop edits as needed. We are willing to train the right candidate on our specific workflows and Photoshop techniques.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manually review and select the best poses from student portrait sessions
- Crop and prepare individual portraits for production
- Perform basic to intermediate Photoshop edits, including:
- Blemish removal
- Glass glare reduction
- Simple exposure and color adjustments
- Download images from SD cards and thumb drives onto the production server following standard naming conventions
- Match subject data to images within our production software
- Process and move group, sports, and panorama images through the production workflow
- Maintain consistent quality and accuracy standards across large batches of images
- Support other lab and production tasks as needed
- Learn package template creation and graphics workflows over time
Requirements
- 2+ years of Photoshop experience preferred (strong candidates with less experience will be considered and trained)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work efficiently with high volumes of images
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn proprietary production software
- Ability to follow established processes and naming conventions accurately
- Positive, team-oriented attitude and reliability
Preferred (but not required)
- Previous experience in a photo lab, school photography, or high-volume production environment
- Familiarity with basic image color correction and retouching techniques
Schedule & Work Environment
- In-person position at our production lab
- Part of a collaborative Operations / Production team
- Steady weekday schedule during the active school season
