Position Summary - McAllen First UMC is seeking a highly organized, personable, and technology-savvy Church Receptionist/Administrative Coordinator to serve as the primary point of contact for our congregation and community. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys learning new skills, solving problems, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and working in a collaborative ministry environment.
Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8:30am – 4:30pm; half hour lunch break included.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
--General Communication & Support
- Answer, screen, and direct phone calls.
- Welcome visitors and serve as a knowledgeable source of information about church ministries, programs, and events.
- Respond to inquiries & connect individuals with appropriate staff, ministry leader or volunteer.
- Communicate effectively with church members, ministry leaders, renters, volunteers, and staff through phone, email, messaging platforms, and social media.
--Event & Facility Coordination
- Maintain the church facility calendar and scheduling system.
- Coordinate event details with ministry leaders, renters, and outside groups.
- Communicate event setup and facility needs with custodial staff.
--Administrative Support
- Maintain church membership, visitor, and attendance records through church management system.
- Maintain office equipment, supplies, and petty cash records.
--Congregational Communications & Media
- Create and edit church newsletters, announcements, presentations, and promotional materials.
- Assist with church social media accounts and YouTube channel management.
- Prepare multimedia presentations for worship services and special events.

- Administrative office experience.
- Bilingual – spoken and written Spanish.
- Experience coordinating schedules, events, or volunteers.
- Experience creating newsletters, presentations, or digital communications.
- Familiarity with church operations, nonprofit organizations, or volunteer-based environments.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
