Job Summary
As a Medical Assistant (MA), you'll play a vital role on a multidisciplinary care team alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses. Essential Responsibilities
- Welcome patients, identify the purpose of their visit, assess concerns, and collect relevant health information.
- Measure and document vital signs, patient history, and clinical observations accurately within the electronic medical record.
- Recognize urgent or emergent situations and promptly communicate with the appropriate clinical provider.
- Assist providers in implementing patient care plans and ensure care is delivered safely, efficiently, and according to established protocols.
- Coordinate patient care by collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating with empathy, professionalism, and respect during every patient interaction.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, preventive care, medications, and healthy lifestyle practices as directed by the provider.
- Reinforce patient understanding to encourage compliance with therapeutic and medical recommendations.
- Maintain patient privacy, comfort, and safety while adhering to infection prevention and safety standards.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation in accordance with Kaiser Permanente Washington policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support new patient orientation and assist with onboarding and mentoring new staff and students as appropriate.
- Demonstrate accountability for professional growth by participating in ongoing education, training, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold Kaiser Permanente Washington's standards for quality, service, and patient-centered care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) required.
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program prior to start date/transfer or equivalent Military experience with ability to obtain MA-I prior to start date.
- Interim Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire OR Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire
- Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) within 12 months of hire
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- If hired as MA-I, must obtain MA-C prior to the expiration of the MA-I credential.
- Knowledge and skills listed on the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington Medical Assistant Competencies/Skills Inventory.
Preferred Qualifications:
Pay: $27.71 - $41.24 per hour
