Job Title: District Director for Junior Achievement of Northern Michigan

These lead staff positions of the Junior Achievement of Northern Michigan and Junior Achievement of the Upper Peninsula are districts of Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes Office managing 2-4 additional staff responsible to ensure that educators volunteer and program recruitment, training, and implementation is done well, up to standards and the organization meets its program goals. This position is responsible to raise annual revenue to meet the financial goals of the JA district through the resources of the Board, individuals, organizations, foundations and corporations, Revenue is raised through events, campaigns, proposals and direct contact. This position organizes fund raising events with specific monetary goals and relationship cultivation goals, develops timetables and marketing collateral, secures sponsors, recruits event volunteers and secures prizes as incentives and assures the efficient operation of events. This position is a liaison with local JA Advisory Board . Board recruitment and retention is a critical component. These positions require local travel throughout their respective regions and occasional travel to JA headquarters in Grand Rapids .
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages staff insuring smooth operation of the JA office.
- Works effectively with the JA Michigan Great Lakes Senior Vice President of Development with major interactions with CEO and Chief Education Officer (CEO) to ensure objectives of the organization and departments are achieved.
- Organizes and executes special event to raise funds and awareness so that financial goals are met and the events generate goodwill and warm prospects. Develops printed material and media coverage to promote all events. Secures sponsors for those events and responsible for donor stewardship. Assures that participants enjoy the event and want to participate in the future. Develops marketing plan and materials for events including but not limited to electronic, print and mass media. Marketing target populations include participants, sponsors and contributors. Secures media coverage to promote event.
- Plans, organizes and implements an annual fundraising campaign. Identifies and rates prospects and secures contributions. Assists in recruiting campaign leadership and volunteers. Solicits teams. Secures and trains volunteers. Provides tools for solicitation and ongoing motivation for timely and successful campaign results.
- Researches and identifies corporation and foundation prospects. Manages grant relationships and develops strategies to secure funding from current and prospective corporate and foundation donors. Stewards contributions secured.
- Works to promote Junior Achievement as a solution provider for the new State of Michigan Financial Literacy requirements. Partners with educators and businesses to
- Work with local Colleges to identify and secure college interns.
- Identifies prospective Advisory Board members and recruits event committee members.
- Assists CEO and Sre Accountant with the preparation of the income and expense budget
- Ensures that JA Michigan Great Lakes organization reporting processes are followed. Ensures data entered into the information system which tracks prospects, solicitors and funding history is correct. Assures that all data is up-to-date and correct. Insures invoicing is happening and collects pledges in a timely manner. Prepares accurate and timely reports.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
REQUIRED
Bachelors degree or equivalent. Experience in fundraising or sales. Strong interpersonal and motivational and management skills. Computer literacy. Detail oriented. Competency in Microsoft Office software. A sales orientation. Must have reliable transportation.
DESIRED
Completion of motivational and public speaking courses. Experience in fund development database software and strong computer skills.
