Position Summary
Provide PRN (as-needed) nursing services, clinical guidance, and authorized staff training for a DD Services-approved agency. This independent contract position utilizes a flexible, task-based pay model.
Key responsibilities include evaluating participants, providing on-call clinical consultation, and conducting state-compliant staff training and competency evaluations under Nebraska DHHS Title 172 NAC 95/96 and Division of Developmental Disabilities guidelines.
Key Responsibilities & Contractor Tasks
1. DHHS-Compliant Staff Training & Certification
● Conduct staff training and evaluate competency for Medication Aide (Med Tech) registration in
compliance with Nebraska DHHS (Title 172 NAC 95/96) standards.
● Instruct and assess staff on Nebraska DHHS Medication Aide 10 Core Competency standards and
basic administration routes.
● Provide specialized clinical instruction, including hands-on training for administering gastric tube
(G-tube) feedings and specialized care.
● Annually review and approve the agency’s Medication Aide Training Program curriculum and sign off
on staff medication aide certification applications submitted to DHHS.
2. As-Needed Clinical Consultation & On-Call Support
● Serve as an as-needed remote contact via phone or text to answer critical medical questions and triage participant needs (M-F 7am-10pm)
● Issue PRN clinical approvals and provide guidance on managing acute health conditions.
● May communicate directly with physicians, pharmacies, and staff regarding order clarifications, prescription refills, and medical concerns.
3. Clinical Review & Care Management
● Review after-visit summaries, doctor orders, and lab results to translate clinical instructions for staff.
● Perform on-site participant health assessments, first aid care, and medication inventory reviews on an as-needed basis.
4. Documentation & Compliance
● Maintain accurate electronic and paper medical documentation within Therap and agency records.
● Strictly follow all Nebraska DHHS Division of Developmental Disabilities regulations, HIPAA rules,
and organizational policies.
Education, License & Trainer Requirements
● Education & Professional License: Active, unencumbered Nebraska license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Must be in good standing with the Nebraska DHHS Board of Nursing.
● DHHS Trainer Eligibility: Qualified to serve as a Medication Aide Approved Evaluator/Instructor per Title 172 NAC regulations.
● Background Checks: Successful completion of Nebraska CPS Central Registry, Nebraska State Patrol
Criminal Background Check, and Nationwide Background Check.
● Contractor Status: Ability to function as an independent contractor under a task-based rate schedule.
