American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring an active IL RN license and 2-3 years of acute care experience.

Work in the Surgery Room/OR unit of a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated, Comprehensive Stroke Center hospital
-
28-bed unit including 2 hybrid rooms for CV/Vascular cases
-
Approximately 60-75 surgical cases per day, with the hybrid room handling 5-10 cases/day
-
Patient population includes outpatient, inpatient, and trauma cases such as GSW, stabbings, transplants (kidney, heart), donor cases, general, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, and open heart/CABG procedures
-
Hybrid room cases include TAVR, AAA, endarterectomies, angiograms, and fistula revisions for adult patients only
-
Approximately 20% pediatric caseload including open hearts, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy procedures

No liver or lung transplant cases

Participates in Gifts of Hope cases

EMR: EPIC (experience required)

Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing systems

10-hour day shift schedule (1045a-715p), with additional shift options including 0645-1515, 1445-1915, 2245-0715, and various 8/10/12-hour combinations

Rotation-based scheduling with no self-scheduling; staff assigned based on facility needs
-
Weekend rotation required every 4th weekend (Saturday-Sunday)

OR operates 24/7, 365 days a year with skeleton crew coverage for trauma/urgent cases outside standard hours

On-call requirements vary by shift/service line, with a 30-minute response time and on-site sleeping room available

3 call shifts required within a 6-week period, including 2 weekend shifts

No floating required

Active IL RN license required

BLS certification required
-
2-3 years of acute care experience required

Critical care experience preferred

Level 1-2 trauma experience required

EPIC EMR experience required

Ability to scrub and circulate for surgical cases

CVOR RN candidates must be able to scrub and circulate adult or pediatric open-heart cases as specified by the unit

Minimum 12 months of core work experience in OR specialty, with recent experience within the last year
-
Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Candidate's middle name/initial, DOB, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Support team includes charge nurse (no patient assignment M-F, available weekends/evenings), anesthesiologist for bedside monitoring, resource nurse, surgeons, ANM, educators, service line reps, and an EPIC super-user
-
Orientation includes meeting educators and ANM, gaining login access, completing online modules, and EPIC training on day 1, followed by unit orientation on days 2-3

Schedule provided on a 6-week rotation, shared 2-4 weeks in advance

Holiday coverage required, including 1 winter holiday and 1 summer holiday

All RTO must be approved by manager
